New Park Adventure

Yesterday mom told us we would be going on an adventure to a new park that even she had never been to before!  Now, I don't know about you but that kind of thing makes me nervous...  we'll be going deep into the forest and none of us knows where we are???  That sounds like disaster waiting to happen to me!

Not only that but when we got to the car, mom realized she didn't have the key so we had to go back home and get it!  Do I feel confident about this adventure?

Luckily, as you can see we did make it back because we are posting our fabulous pictures...

This park is called Francis/King Regional Park and is about 15 minutes from our house.  Since we have never been to this park before we decided to take the easiest trail available - The Elsie King Trail.

The trail was nice and wide and had a lot of little other trails you could check out and read about.  Being the brainier of the two of us, I was always ready to check them out and learn stuffs but Pippen just wanted to walk the trail!

I bet it looks really spooky here at night.

Pippen kept telling me that he could hear a bear in the bushes...

I'm pretty sure he was trying to scare me!

Uh oh!  What was that noise???

Maybe we should pick up the pace a bit...

Check this out - it looks kinda like a canoe standing on its end.

Lots of interesting trees to look at...

Just look at this tree!  Doesn't it look like we live in the shire?  It should... we are hobbits after all!

Hey mom!  What are you doing behind that tree?

It seems like this trail goes on forever...

and of course... another weird tree!

Finally!  The end of the trail!

The funny thing about this trail was that it's a big loop and if mom hadn't been watching closely we would have gone around again...

Seems like 'somedawggy' almost got lost and thought the car was the OTHER way!

Butt we aren't naming any names...

Sunday Morning Adventure

Here in Victoria BC, a yacht race called Swiftsure takes place the last weekend of May every year.  Here's a photo mom took on Saturday while out buying dumb coats for me at garage sales.  This was a couple hours after the start of the race so most of the boats were already out of sight.

On Sunday, we woke mom up early so we could go down to the Inner Harbour to see if any of the boats had gotten back.  We parked near the Visitor's Centre so we could do a bit of a loop.  We got downtown around 6:30 so no dawgs in their right minds were out and about... just us!

Look at all the boats!  You can also see the Parliament Buildings in the background on the left.

Check out these big mushroom thingies...

Checking out all the action going on.

We were running around all over the place and Pippen liked jumping up and then jumping down these big steps...

I liked walking along the top of them... it made me feel like a Great Dane being so much taller than Pippen!

And then for some reason, we all started singing!

"O you'll take the high road, and I'll take the low road
And I'll be in Scotland before ye..."

The water looks really nice and calm!

And some more of the boats resting after the race.

Then we had to go up the stairs to the sidewalk.  Of course I ran lickety-split!  Isn't that an awesome shot?  Almost looks like I'm going to tumble backwards!

That's what the professionals call 'form'!

At the top of the stairs there is a small totem pole.

And then across the street there's the statue of Emily Carr

I stopped to have a chat with her dawg...  I even tried to pose like him!  Don't we look totally alike?

Then we started back towards the car but we decided to wander the grounds of the Empress Hotel

And just look at this!  Killer Whales!  How awesome are they?

Then it was back across the street and into the car.  Before we went home we stopped off at Tim Horton's to get some donuts and coffee for mom's breakfast... and she even shared with us.

The Bane of My Existence!

Garage Sales!  They are the BANE of my existence.  I kid you not... sometimes I get good stuffs like my new cat bed last week but this week's purchase...

SERIOUSLY???

I'm going to have to ban mom from going to any more of them!

This dog 'coat' cost mom 50 cents and she tells me that she almost missed it... now that would have been a shame!

Does she do these things to make fun of me?

Is this considered animal abuse?  If so, could one of you PLEASE call the authorities?

Oh wait...

now THIS is getting interesting!

Mom's pretty brave to be putting this on Chico Kitteh.  If I was her, I'm not sure I'd want to be going to sleep tonight!

Uh oh...

He's already trying to go for her but I think the coat is impeding him slightly.

Oy!  Now would you mess with this kitteh?

And if you're wondering why Pippen isn't subjected to this... well, he runs faster than we do!

Security Detail

After yesterday's fiasco that mom called an 'adventure', I decided that today would be a good day for a security check in my 'hood.

I walked out to my post with purpose, just in case some rogue dawg looking for trouble was watching.

Everything looks pretty good so far.

I better settle in... it could be a long shift!

What?!?  Who is this guy?  What's in those bags, dude?  Are you listening to me?

A black car?  Those are never good!  Everyone knows that only nefarious characters drive black cars!

I better keep my eye on him.

Hey!  There's Shelby... better make sure she gets back home safe and sound!

At the end of my shift I have to go find Al the caretaker of the complex to give him my report.

I let him know about the black car and the person carrying the grocery bag... both very suspicious in my opinion!

Another long shift over and done...

Now it's time for a nap!
