Adventure Weekend!

What a fun filled adventure weekend was had by us this weekend!

First of all, I lost Teddy and do you think anyone would help this blind dog out?  NO way!  I still have to do everything for myself.

Then on Sunday morning, mom was kinda slow in the getting up department so I decided to go downstairs by myself.  Not only are there 14 steps to get downstairs but also two turns.  Well I made it down nine steps just fine and then a paw slipped and it was lickety-split down the rest of them!  I managed to stay on all four paws and no damage was done.  Hopefully that teaches mom and important lesson about sleeping in on Sundays!

Then, later in the day mom bundle us off in the car and we went to the forest!

This is our first major adventure since I went blind so mom choose a nice easy trail that we've been on before.  As you can see, I don't let the not seeing thing stop me from off roading!  All the good smells are in the brush...

Pippen has taken to complaining that I'm a slow poke and he always has to wait for me... whine, whine, Pippen.

Mom keeps me on a short leash now.  She says its to keep me out of dangers but did it help when that tree got in my way?  No!  Once again, mom was busy looking at the scenery and totally forgot about the Sam and the propensity of walking into things... like trees... because, you know, we were in the FOREST!

This isn't the tree I bumped into... mom just wanted a nice picture of the Sam.

And just look at who thinks he's the big boss now!  Taking charge and walking across the bridge first!  I believe somedawg is getting to big for his britches!

Now it's Monday and mom is back at work... so you know what that means, right?

We'll be doing a whole lot of this!

Hope everybuddy has a super duper week!

You Say I'm Blind Like It's A Bad Thing!

I had the energies tonight and no buddy knew what to do with me!

Never forget dawgs and kittehs...

Just because you are 10, diabetic and blind doesn't mean you can't still be

Who Turned Out The Lights?

As some of you may know, I gots the diabetes in January.  One of the things that can happen when you get it is that there is a possibility that you could go blind.

Well, dawgs and kittehs...

That's just what happened to me last weekend!

All of a sudden, I was walking into walls and buildings, tripping over curbs and just generally banging my nose on a whole bunch of stuffs!

The first few days were kind of scary and I kept walking in circles because I always think I know better than mom.

Now that I've been blind for a week, things are getting better.  I still like to sit at the edge of the sidewalk but instead of watching the world go by, I sit and listen.  I'm learning that when mom says, "watch out!" I need to change course a bit or I'll bang into something.  Mom is always looking out for me and telling me when to stop, step up, step down or watch out.

At first I thought I would need to send her for some Guide Human training but she's really stepping up and turning into a great Seeing Eye Human for me!

One of her friends from work gave her a stroller for me but I've told mom that I'm not ready for that just yet!

Chico Kitteh doesn't seem to mind when I accidently step on him and Daisy doesn't smack me as much.

Pippen of course is taking full advantage of my disability and stealing my bed but I can always find the other one or mom picks me up and puts me on the chaise.

So, as always, things could be better but they could be a whole lot worse!
