Sam's New BFF

It's stinking hot outside today... we've broken records!

Last week we were complaining that it was cold and rainy... now we are complaining it's too hot...

Mom brought this guy home today.

He's Sam's new best friend!

Chico even likes him...

I'm staying on the other side of the bed...  sure he blows a lot of cool air but he looks shifty to me and I don't trust him!

A Puddles Roast Badge

Since a few of us are interested in roasting our good friend, Puddles, we've made a badge for your blogs.

It's our first time so be kind...

If you'd like to be a part of the Puddles Roast, please dedicate your July 28th post to Miss Puddles Duddles Rainwater.  We'll leave it up to efurryone to make their own speeches... Anything goes... you say whatever your heart desires about our furiend, Puddles.

Let's get the word out...

We're sure there's a few of us who have something to share!

A Roasting...

Pip... Pip... I have an idea...

Do you want to hold a roast on July 28th for someone???

NO... not that kind... although...

I was thinking more along these lines...

Where everyone attending stands up and say just how much they loves that purrticular pup or kitty...

If anyone would like to join us to roast our favourite daschund born on the 28th of July...  just let us know!

Thanks to Minna Krebs for the great picture!  Make sure you high tail it over to her place to get your very own for your blog!

Frankie Furter's July 4th Name Game!

Seamus O'Rourke...

That's what mom wanted to name me just because she liked how it sounded...

BUT this is what happened instead.

My mom quit her job to look after my gramma full time because she had Alzheimer's and needed someone to stay with her.  After a couple of weeks, my mom thought getting a puppy would be a good idea so they went to look...

and found me!

Gramma said, 'what are you going to name him?'

Mom said, 'Seamus'  and gramma made 'the face'...

So mom had a thought...  years ago, they had a doggie named Sam (a girl beagle, but we won't go there...)  This here is a picture of my mom when she was just a puppy herself with Sam the beagle's puppies...

and mom figured that because gramma's memorys wasn't working like it used to, maybe that would help her remember my name.  It didn't but I still loved her lots and lots...

Mom says looking back it's a good thing I wasn't named Seamus...  she says she wouldn't be calling me that anyway...  Mom says that once she got to know me, she would have had to call me Shameless...

I'm not sure what she means by that remark...

One day when I was still a little puppy, mom and I went for a walk.  We met lots and lots of doggies that day but there was one little black one that mom liked.  Mom asked his dad what the little doggy's name was and his dad said, 'Pippen'  Mom said that that was a really nice name...

On our way back to our car, mom said to me, 'one day we'll get a puppy for you and his name is going to be Pippen!'

and that's exactly what happened!

All we had to do was find the right puppy for his name... and I think we did a pretty good job of it!

Pippen was Pippen even before he was a twinkle in his dad's eye!

So now you know that we weren't named after the Hobbits in the Lord of the Rings...  it just happened to work out that way!

Pippen's Saturday Stroll

Usually, on our morning walks I take control and lead everyone to where I want to go.  Today, I was kind of tired so I let Pippen take the lead.

BIG mistake!  We were gone over an hour!  And at one point, I was sure we were lost...

It all started innocently enough...

Pippen wanted to go across the street into the residential area.  We've been that way before so I gave the okay.

but then we kept walking...

and walking...

We walked so far that we saw lizards on houses!  LIZARDS!

Finally we got to the end of the street and stopped at the sign.

I was beginning to get worried when mom said to turn right....  I didn't think that was the way to go and I kept wanting to turn back but mom said no.

Then we saw a seagull...  I was sure he was going to attack us but he didn't.

I wanted to stop at the store that had this sign but mom said we didn't have any moneys so we continued on.

I kept sniffing stuff, checking the pee mail, but I didn't know who anyone in this part of the world was...

I was becoming concerned.

Pippen didn't care.  He was on a mission.  After reading Tank's post a couple days ago, Pip wanted to make sure that everything we saw was his...  not Tank's...

This one's mine...

And then I saw it...  far off in the distance...  the sign of our mall!  I knew where we were and how to get home!

Let's go!

Before we got home, we had to scare the bejeebers out of some birds...

and mom had to take a picture of a pretty tree.

We made it back safe and sound once again!

That's the last time I let Pippen be in charge of our walking route!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!

My Special Power...

There are times that Sam will go to bed before mom does...

I really don't like that because that means Sam is upstairs and mom is downstairs...

How am I supposed to protect both of them if they are separated?

So this is what I do...

No matter what mom is doing, I sit in her sight line and stare at her.

It only takes about 5 minutes before she turns off the tv or computer and follows me upstairs!

Sometimes mom tries to ignore the special power but then I'll growl at her...  Once she looks into my eyes, she's a goner!
