Another Long Walkie!

We're wondering who thought vacations were a good thing?  Mom is on a two week vacation and so far we've been on seriously tiring long walkies every day.  When will this torture end???

So most of our parks and trails are long and interconnecting.  We decided to go to the other part of the Colquitz River Park today.  This section of the park goes behind the Mall that's across the street and connects to Cuthbert Holmes Park.  It's one big circle so we'll eventually get back home...

So far, so good!  Everyone is still happy!

Ruh roh!  Sam's having second thoughts... we have to go over this bridge and it bounces when people walk on it.  Sam HATES it!

Mom managed to stop in the middle and take this picture.  It let Sam get used to the bridge so we were able to get all the way across!

There was hardly anyone on the trail today which explains why mom like to take her vacations in the spring, fall and winter!  Everyone else is either in school or at work!

Mom isn't a big fan of this trail as lots of teenagers hang out in the bushes because it's behind the mall and near a movie theatre.  We were lucky that there was hardly anyone out today!

The trail goes right next to the highway so it can be a bit noisy... Sam started to have third thoughts about this walkie here.  He kept wanting to turn around... mom brought cookies today to try to entice him but it wasn't working.  He doesn't like eating when he's stressed.  That worked just fine for me because I got to eat his cookies too!

Whenever he got a little spooked, mom would stop and take picture of the scenery.  Lots of the time we could hear things moving around in the bushes!  Mom said that it was probably rabbits but I think it was probably something like a lion or elephant!

Mom finally figured out what worked for Sam...  every time he turned back, mom would point him in the right direction and tell him he was a good boy!  Not sure why people think Sam's the smart one... like really would you do something you don't want to do just because you were called a good boy?  I say, give me the cookies!

We are finally at the halfway point and the start of Cuthbert Holmes Park.

You know what else is funny?  As soon as we turn in the direction of home, Sam is A-Okay... doesn't matter where we are but somehow he knows we are on our way back.

At one point on the trail we saw a man with a big doggie.  Of course, Sam hates big dogs he doesn't know so mom moves us over to the side so we can wait for them to pass.  The man saw this and called to mom, "Are you afraid of my dog???"  Mom said that she wasn't but that Sam gets nervous.  So you know what that nice man did?  He made sure his dog didn't bother Sam.  Mom was pretty impressed and even remembered her manners and said thank you to him after he passed us.

Another bouncy bridge but Sam was all for crossing this one and even checked out the scenery!

Gotta say that we're pretty darn lucky to live in this place.

We are seriously getting tired now... even mom!  She stopped taking pictures until we got back to the complex.

This is starting to be a thing with Sam... pick up stray leaves and twigs with his tail.

We are hoping tomorrow doesn't bring another long walkie cuz we're gonna still be napping!

  1. Ah man, great walk. Bella and Roxy both had bridge problems, but got over them quickly.

We never think any walk is long enough.....though we do stop in the shade sometimes for a rest when it's hot.

Totally understand the branch in the last photo, dude.
