Heck Yeah!
Mom even remembered to bring along my floaty, so I was pretty stoked about the whole thing! For those of you that don't know, a floaty is used in Retriever Field Trials and I'm in training for the world championships!
Here I am with my buddy, Cole.
It's been so long since I used my floaty that I forgot how to grab on to it... it's actually too big for me so I have to grab the little handle or the rope!
The first time mom threw it out, I tried to get it but couldn't do it...
I had to swim back to shore without it...
Mom was pretty worried that it would float away but then Solitaire came to the rescue...
Thanks, Solitaire!
I went off and climbed some rocks and ate some grass to try and regroup...
Then, I was ready to try again.
Okay, mom! Throw the floaty! Don't forget to time me!
What do you mean my time was 8.53 seconds? I can do better! Let's go again...
Ready? Set... GO!
3.25 seconds? Okay! That's more like it!
Then I took a break to watch my buddies do some swimming...
They aren't as serious about retrieving as I am... They don't have an 'official' floaty - they just use sticks!
One more time for me and then I`m going to call it a day...
Oh and you should have heard my mom... complaint after complaint... I`ve got sand in my shoes... my pants are all wet... I`ve got a big stone in my shoe... I`m hot... I`m tired...
If you want to train a champion, you gots to get dirty sometime!
At least that`s what I hear! And I'm pretty sure I'm always right!

Can I be one of your official cheerleaders? Do the Retriever Trial contestants have cheerleaders? I could be like, give me an "S," give me an "A," give me an "M!" What's that spell? And then peoples would scream SAM!!!! OR "Sam! Sam! He's our man! If he can't do it, no one can! GOOOOOOO SAM!" Oh, it would be most wonderful!
ReplyDeleteUm, okay, I've gotta go shopping for my cheerleader outfit.

You are an EXCELLENT swimmer. We've never seen that much water, and we don't like getting in the little bit of water we do have. We are VERY impressed.

We bassets can't really swim - something about having a long heavy body and short legs but Martha keeps trying - we have to fish her out quite a lot!
She would have loved to go to the beach with you guys and get the floaty - would Solitaire have brought her in?
